Ms. Shiua-Mei Hwang was qualified by YAMAHA Children Music Courses as an instructor in Taiwan and Hong Kong. After moving to Hong Kong in 1997, she had difficulty finding a suitable place and methodology for her children and her friends’ children to learn Mandarin.  Therefore, after receiving her Beijing Normal University Mandarin Teacher Certificate, Ms. Hwang created a Mandarin Playgroup program called Kids Land.  She has since expanded the activities to include Music Land, Fun with Mandarin and The Play Club.

As many parents who have participated in Kids Land know, Ms. Hwang has created and translated many lyrics from well known nursery songs into Mandarin, which has proven to be a very successful medium for the language education of young children.  This methodology is used as a basis for instruction in all of the Kids Land activities.

Kids Land’s current activities are:

        Mandarin Playgroup:  Ages 18 months to 3 years

        Fun with Mandarin:  Ages 3 years to 5 years

        Music Land:  Ages 1 year to 2 years

        The Play Club:  Ages Infant to 6 years
